Acting under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, the Security Council welcomed and appreciated the work of the Boundary Demarcation Commission on its completion. إذ يتصرف بموجب الفصل السابع من ميثاق الأمم المتحدة، رحب مجلس الأمن، وأعرب عن تقديره باختتام أعمال لجنة تخطيط الحدود.
The resolution recalled that the United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Boundary Demarcation Commission was not to reallocate territory, but for the first time mark the precise coordinates of the border between Kuwait and Iraq on the basis of the agreement between the two countries in 1963. وذكر القرار بأن لجنة الأمم المتحدة لتخطيط الحدود بين العراق الكويت لم تقم بإعادة توزيع الأراضي، ولكن للمرة الأولى وضع تحديد دقيق لإحداثيات الحدود بين الكويت والعراق على أساس الاتفاق المبرم بين البلدين في عام 1963.
